Songs I Wish I'd Written

5 Jun 2014
One sentence I never thought I'd say: I was at a strip club yesterday listening to live music.
Well okay it's a former strip club, but it still serves as a cabaret - which is, let's face it, the same thing just with more clothes.

There was this very cute (pregnant - which only made her cuter) singer, who stood with her guitar and sang about flowers and love and it was full of melancholy and calming - strip pole behind her and all.
It made me want to write different songs than the ones I usually write. Songs about what I really feel, which is SO HARD for me. This is why I opt for songs about what other people feel (songs about doctor who for example).
Anyways I'm going off topic. I think every songwriter has at least one song, that he/she wishes he/she had written - and i have tons, so here is a list of 10 songs, that I wish I had written, in no particular order (I'd really recommend you to listen to them because they're just fantastic, I even looked for youtube videos for you :3):

  1. Lovers Dream - Anna Ternheim (the acoustic version is even better, but I couldn't find it)
  2. The Moon Song - Karen O (feat. Ezra Koenig) (the duet version is my favourite)
  3. Between The Bars - Elliot Smith
  4. Bottled Up Tight - Luke Sital-Singh
  5. After The Apocalypse - Squalloscope  (couldn't find a youtube link so soundcloud it is)
  6. Clementine - Sarah Jaffe
  7. Abraham - Daniella Spektor (This one's in hebrew so don't be confused :3)
  8. Home - Mumford And Sons
  9. Boats And Birds - Gregory And The Hawk
  10. Pretty Face - Sóley

Some questions for you:
Which song do you wish you've written?
Which one of those songs was your favourite?
When was the last time you were in a strip club?

So I'm kinda amazed, that I've managed to make an entry every day for the last 3 days or so, this might be my greatest achievement yet! :P Have a lovely day everyone <3
